FAQs
Studying in the USA: common questions
Do I need the GRE, GMAT or SAT?
It depends on the university and programme. Some ask for these tests, and some make them optional. Your counsellor will confirm the requirement for each course on your shortlist.
Which English test do I need?
Universities accept different tests and scores. Check each university's requirement before you book. See our guide to IELTS vs PTE.
Can I work while I study in the USA?
F-1 students face strict limits on working off campus. Check the rules with your university's international student office before you take any job.
What is OPT?
Optional Practical Training lets eligible F-1 students work in a job related to their field of study. Eligibility, length and any extensions are set by US rules, so check the official US government pages for the latest details.
How early should I apply?
Start six to twelve months before your intake. That gives you time for tests, documents, applications, your Form I-20 and your visa interview.
Does ERN charge for the first consultation?
No. Your first consultation with ERN is free and comes with no obligation.
